East Kilbride's tree cover is largely a product of the town's New Town design, designated in 1947 — planting built into neighbourhoods like Westwood and Stewartfield from the start is now mature enough that most of our pruning work is crown reduction or deadwood removal rather than shaping a young tree.

Anywhere within The Village Conservation Area needs South Lanarkshire Council's consent before heavy pruning, and trees bordering Calderglen Country Park's gorge woodland can be self-seeded specimens rather than planted ornamentals.

There should always be a reason behind a prune — better light, reduced risk, a specific shape — rather than trimming a tree simply for being large. We factor in safety, nearby rooflines and roads, and the tree's condition before recommending crown reduction or a lighter prune.
